I'm 52 and just earning my esthetician’s license. Almost everyone in my beauty school class is probably half my age! Am I fooling myself about my chances of succeeding in this career being so old?

Not at all! In fact, age is sometimes an advantage in this career as maturity and the human insights we gain over the years help us to be more knowledgeable and empathetic with older clients. And there are plenty of them!

Your work ethic, wisdom, patience, and customer care will carry your career to wherever you want it to go.

I retired from my service work at 71 and could easily have gone on for another 10 years. Focus on what you have rather than what you fear you don’t. You’ll do well!
