And who doesn't? Some years ago skincare and product companies began to belittle what they called "foo foo" and "pamper" facial treatments, suggesting that they were nothing when compared to those that included their amazing technology and ingredients. By spreading this idea the hope was that estheticians would be more likely to buy what they sell as a means of keeping up with trends and overcoming professional insecurity. You don't have to fall for it!
If you ask new age-management clients what they recall most from satisfying past facial treatments, they almost ALWAYS use feeling words such as "relaxing", "peaceful", "wonderful massage", and "great scents." They rarely mention anything about treatment technology. Remember, what clients positively recall past from experiences is what got them to have another treatment. Take the time to find this our during your consultation.
And, think about it: what's the greatest cause of aging today? Stress! And stress leads to elevated cortisol, reduced t-call count, disrupted sleep, plus the tendency to indulge in harmful dietary habits. Is not some relief from that a good result? Of course it is! I successfully traded on that basis for 43-years. Don't let anyone convince you that stress-reducing treatments don't offer results, particularly those of you who work at resorts or on cruise ships. You may only see those clients once, but you may be the one esthetician they remember forever!
Best to you, Douglas Preston
