Well, there could be if every esthetician only needed a couple of clients to live on. But the esthetics client market is and has always been a very limited one, at least so far as salon services are concerned. Beauty schools and those who sell to us will tell a different story for their own reasons. Still, those who offer exceptional customer service, develop exemplary treatment skills, and truly put customers first are the ones who stand the best chance of career success.
New estheticians are entering the profession in large numbers every year but that doesn't automatically create more customers to serve. Look at it this way: say in your area there are 1000 potential skincare clients and there are 50 estheticians competing for them. If everyone captures an equal share that's 20 customers each, or, 5 clients per week. To fill a 5-day per week book we'll need at least 5 clients a day for 4+weeks. This means we need roughly 100 regular and intermittent clients to cover those schedule openings. And that doesn't account for no-shows, rescheduled appointments, and those who for various reasons can't make it in on the day of their appointment. That all happens to everyone.
So, enter this profession with a clear look at reality. You'll be better prepared for the task ahead of you. Many will drop out of the field for all sorts of reasons, just make sure you're not one of them. Yes, self-employment is hard. It's always been hard. But if you have the dedication and stamina to learn and grow you've made a great choice!

Best of luck to you!
